Caffeine appears to have no effect on intraocular pressure (IOP) or mean blood pressure, according to a study in Current Eye Research. The study examined caffeines effect on IOP and retrobulbar blood flow velocity, and found no significant differences between the study and control groups. But, the resistance index of ophthalmic, central retinal and short posterior nasal ciliary arteries was significantly increased after oral caffeine intake.

 

Bausch & Lomb has named Carla Mack, O.D., as its director, medical affairs, global vision care. In this new post, Dr. Mack will contribute to clinical research, continuing education and support for eye-care organizations and academic institutions. Dr. Mack joins B&L from The Ohio State University College of Optometry, where she was the director of clinic services and associate professor of clinical optometry.
