Biomedics EP, by CooperVision, is a two-week disposable contact lens designed to accommodate emerging presbyopes. It is made of omafilcon A and has a 60% water content. The lens features a center spherical distance zone with a progressive aspheric zone for near and intermediate vision.

AMD Risk Assessment
QuantifEYE, by ZeaVision, LLC, is a three-part program for monitoring a patients risk of developing age-related macular degeneration (AMD). The program entails a risk assessment of the patients history (Part I), measurement of the patients macular pigment using heterochromatic flicker photometry (Part II) and a retinal exam (Part III).
QuantifEYE lets you monitor macular pigment density levels as part of a comprehensive eye exam, the company says.

Direct-to-Consumer Eyecare Plan
A new direct-to-consumer vision-care plan, from VSP, focuses on consumers who do not have vision coverage through their employers. Coverage options include member-only plans, member-plus-one plans or family coverage. Yearly exams and lenses will be covered, the company says.

HIPAA-Complaint Claim Form
An updated version (08/05) of the CMS1500 Health Claim Form is now available from Ancom Business Products. This HIPAA-compliant form, which includes the National Provider Identifier (NPI), was updated due to new NPI reporting requirements.

Clear Care, by CIBA Vision, is a hydrogen peroxide-based cleaning and disinfecting system for soft contact lenses. The system includes both the solution and a case with neutralizing disc. Lenses must be soaked in the case for six hours prior to wear, and this solution is not for quick rinses, the company says.
