Custom Silicone Hydrogel Lenses

O2Optix Custom silicone hydrogel lenses, from CIBA Vision, are made to order for hard-to-fit patients, such as those with high hyperopia, aphakia, large or small corneas, or steep or flat corneas. The lenses are made of sifilcon A and feature a biocompatible plasma surface treatment. They have a 32% water content and feature a light green handling tint.

O2Optix Custom lenses are available in sphere powers of -20.00D to +20.00D (0.25D steps). They come in three diameters:
13.2mm, with base curves of 7.4mm, 7.7mm, 8.0mm or 8.3mm.
14.0mm, with base curves of 7.8mm, 8.1mm, 8.4mm, 8.7mm or 9.0mm.
14.8mm, with base curves of 8.0mm, 8.3mm, 8.6mm, 8.9mm or 9.2mm.

Dry Eye

Punctal Plug and Stent

The Mono-Crawford, from FCI Ophthalmics, is a lacrimal stent anchored by a silicone punctal plug. The plug replaces the need for sutures and facilitates removal of the stent, the company says.
The stent features an olive-tipped probe end and comes with either 3mm or 4mm punctal plug collarettes. A PVP (polyvinyl pyrollidone) coating is optional.

Nutraceutical

HydroEye, from ScienceBased Health, has been reformulated to include eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), the omega-3 fatty acids found in fish oil, and gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), an omega-6 fatty acid found in black currant seed oil. This new combination suppresses the inflammatory response in dry eye, the company says.

AMD Monitor

The Foresee PHP (Preferential Hyperacuity Perimeter), from Notal Vision and MSS, is a non-invasive visual field diagnostic system that helps monitor patients who have age-related macular degeneration (AMD). It does so by detecting early signs of choroidal neovascularization.
The Foresee PHP exam takes three to five minutes and measures up to 14 degrees of macular area, the company says.

Combined OCT and Angiography

The Spectralis HRA+OCT (Heidelberg Retina Angiograph and optical coherence tomograph), by Heidelberg Engineering Inc., captures HRA and OCT images simultaneously in any of four imaging modalities: autofluorescence, infrared, fluorescein angiography or indocyanine green (ICG) angiography. The Spectralis scans the retina 40,000 times per second, providing detailed images of the retinal structure, the company says.

Accommodation-Stimulation Targets

Flashing Fixation Sticks, from Gulden Ophthalmics, are a set of two battery-operated plastic sticks that feature small flashing lights at the top. You can use a single stick for testing pursuits, near point of convergence, motilities, fixation stability at near in diagnostic positions of gaze, amplitude of accommodation, or vergence facility. The Digital ClearField lens, from Volk Optical, is a 2.79x magnification double aspheric lens for use in binocular indirect ophthalmoscopy (BIO). The lens has a 72-degree field of view for observing the mid- and far periphery of the retina.
