Three New Deans Take Charge

Three optometry schools across the nation have announced the appointment of new deans of optometry.
Salus University has named Linda Casser, O.D., dean of Pennsylvania College of Optometry. Dr. Casser comes to Salus from the National Board of Examiners in Optometry, where she was the associate executive director of clinical examinations since 2006.
Pacific University, in Forest Grove, Oregon, has named Jennifer Smythe, O.D., M.S., dean of the Pacific University College of Optometry. Dr. Smythe has held various roles within the college since her residency in 1993, and she was named to VisionMondays 2006 50 Most Influential Women in Optical.
Indiana University School of Optometry, in Indianapolis, has named Sarita Soni, O.D., M.S., as interim dean. Dr. Soni will continue her duties as vice provost of research during her time as dean.
